FW 4.00 Coming Soon - by garethlye
Category: General on Wednesday June 18, 2008

Ah yes FW 4.00...
The long awaited and still waiting firmware...
Hmm...Just an update.
Here's what Eric Lempell, Director of the Playstation Network Opertaions, had to say about the new firmware.

" I wanted to give you all a heads up that a new PSP system software update, v4.00, will be released soon, adding Google Internet search directly to the XMB (XrossMediaBar) interface.

This new upgrade replicates the Google Internet search experience, delivering the same search results that you’d get at www.google.com. And with a search history recall of 20 items, Web searches couldn’t be easier.

After you download and install the firmware on your PSP, click on the XMB’s Network icon and then the new Internet Search icon. Enter your keywords and then let Google’s algorithms do the work. You’ll need to be connected to the Internet via a wireless access point or Wi-Fi hotspot. Googling something on the go has never been more convenient on your PSP.

Another new feature delivered through the 4.00 update is the ability to change viewing speed during playback of videos stored on your Memory Stick PRO Duo, so you can speed through or slow down what you’re watching. To do this simply press the up or down directional buttons while playing a video. Enjoy! "

Ah it looks lame...only because he didn't mention the other updates that are in this new update. Can't wait for CFW. But someone mentioned that he mentioned to someone else that in this firmware, has been made with a super-security-patch which said could keep Dark_Alex, Team Noobz (M33) busy for a couple of months. Also this ffirmware is suppose to be un-downgradable with pandora. Pandora will only won't as a recovery but it will still be the same firmware if done successfully.
Thats it for now, more updates later. :D

Category: Website on Saturday June 14, 2008

Why is it so empty on the website? Why aren't there any cool changes?
Simple Answer:
In the beta, there will be a member system, which everything relies on. We are having issues fixing the bug, so it's gonna take some time to go into beta...

Category: Website on Friday June 6, 2008

A couple of you guys are wondering why Gareth isn't posting the homebrew on he website so every one can download it straight to their psp....

It's because he doesn't have access YET to that part of the website. When we go into the final phase of beta, people will be able to upload homebrew, so Gareth will also be able to upload it. So just wait for the beta!

CFW 3.95 GEN Download to PSP Directly! - by garethlye
Category: General on Sunday June 1, 2008

After the long wait and technical difficulties...the release of CFW 3.95GEN!!!
Developer MaGiXien assures you that 3.95 GEN is functional, and their latest build even alleviated the compatibility problems with PSP Fat models. Yes, they've overcome the Fat's memory limitations.

But that's not all - the team has even taken steps to ensure that the VSHMENU from Popsloader, IRShell (well, most of it), and CXMB were tested on 3.95 GEN. The results were sucessful. While VSHMENU support is extended and confirmed working, IRShell's ISO, UMD loading functionality and CXMB operation won't work without updates.

What's new in this CFW...

~ Compatibility with the official firmware 3.95

~ Option to choose between various sources of updates (GEN Server, Server M33 or official server)
~ The option to choose between VSHMenu or Recovery accessible via the SELECT button in VSH.

~ Access to recovery / vshmenu via press SELECT (adjustable)
~ Updated network directly on the server via PSPGEn icon Network Update (adjustable)

The developer team says that they've managed to test several other homebrew programs, and they've been found to be working perfectly.

I would like to remind the readers that you will need to have a PSP running on at least CFW 3.71 M33 to get 3.95 GEN working on your handheld. As always, don't forget to check out the Readme.txt file included in the file bundle for more information on how to install CFW 3.95 GEN. You can also view additional details on its different functions there.

Download it directly from your PSP!!
Just go to the firmware section!
Download the the Update

You do need the 3.95 Eboot....
and put it in the root of your memory stick, download the EBOOT
Download IRShell to move the Eboot called 395.PBP to the root of your memory stick!
IRShell can be downloaded from the HB-APPS section

VSH Recovery Launcher v0.1 - by garethlye
Category: General on Thursday May 29, 2008

Developer Red Squirrel has recently been at it again with a new homebrew plugin for the PlayStation Portable. The new plugin, entitled "VSH Recovery Launcher", allows you to run the Recovery Menu from your handheld's XMB with the single press of a button (the L button to be exact).

The plugin launches the original Recovery Menu taken from the Flash0:/VSH/MODULE/recovery.prx directory, so it doesn't end up tampering with anything outside of your PSP's normal functions. Much like any plugin, you still have to enable it from the Recovery Menu through normal means before it can work.

VSH Recovery Launcher v0.1 still has a couple of notable bugs according to the developer. Upon launching the Recovery Menu, both the USB and formatting functions currently don't work. Also, using the "Run program at..." and "Exit" options will most likely freeze up your PSP, so try and avoid using both as well.

For more information on how to install and use the different functions of the plugin, you can always refer to the Readme.txt included in the file bundle

CSPSP v1.55 Release - by garethlye
Category: General on Tuesday May 27, 2008

Nataku93's Counterstrike homebrew game for the PSP, known as CSPSP. As CSPSP v1.55, the game now has support for 3.xx firmwares, which means you should be able to run this on the PSP Slim. Unfortunately, it only has support for 3.xx custom firmwares now, so you might have to upgrade your CFW to use this homebrew.

Here's the full list of updates and changes as listed on the forums:

~ 3.xx firmware support (haven't tested on slim, but it should work)
~ Fixed server list (hopefully)
~ Fixed bug where only part of the server list is downloaded.
~ Redid a lot of the networking and added client-side prediction to make online play smoother and less buggy
~ Automatic map downloads when connection to servers
~ Made the scoreboard only show the top 4 players in each team
~ Music reimplemented (but causes some lag)
~ Chat now shows if the person is dead/spectating
~ Added more sounds (walk, ricochet, pickup, ammo, hit, knife hit, die, ct win, t win, round draw)
~ New update system
~ Just fixed another small bug where auto balance would mess up count of remaining players on each team for a round.
~ Fixed a small issue in the server application where it would freeze on trying to send a map.

From the notes on our forums, it seems this application is quite popular, so you should be able to find someone to play with if you check the forum link below. That being said, feel free to download the app and enjoy!
