2.0 is ...what? - by Kodess
Category: General on Monday October 27, 2008

Finally the basics are finished!! As I promised before the month has ended:push:
kay...
the link: Clicky

So, it's not finished at all. No design, no functions, nothing. The only thing you can do is register.
But I have exams this week, thats my excuse.
We have a new programmer.... so it should go into a slipstream next month.
As the basics are done, making little add-ons should be a piece of cake.

Meh, enjoy your registration. You have to enter a valid email address by the way
EDIT: Yes, I know the registration is not working.... I am working on it!

Cheers,
Kodess

What's Up? - by Kodess
Category: Website on Thursday October 16, 2008

Yeah it's not really fair to keep you guys out of the mail ring....
But hey, some people in our own team don't even know about the updates:O:P

So I'll give you guys an update, no not about firmware 5.00 about the website.

So P-SPot 2.0, what is it?
How It Started
When we (Borg and me) started P-SPot we wanted to make a website that was easily accessible via the PSP, and we started making it and had around 100 visitors. Then I made a few updates to the website and Borg posted it on the QJ Forums, and that's when all hell broke loose!
Hell broke loose!
We suddenly needed to go from free hosting, to paid hosting to be able to stay up all the time, and we had a difficult time keeping the website updated. We started hiring some more people, Goatje, Toby, Crytek and Garethlye. Goatje would help me with the programming, and the other 3 would help moderate and post news. Now this is a pretty good basic system but it wasn't enough to stop us from slowing down. So we thought it's time to go to 2.0!
2.0
2.0 means that the users get to contribute as well! This makes our jobs easier (less updating, making more new features), and creates a good community. This is where we are now! I am currently working on the 2.0 project and am about half-way through, so I'd say that's pretty good :D
Enough bullsh¡t, that's all I had to say, trying to give you guys an update.

If you came through all the way, thank you, and we're almost there!
Kodess

PSP-3000 Firmware Changes - by garethlye
Category: General on Friday October 3, 2008

PSP-3000 Firmware Changes

Sony’s revamped beauty, the soon to be released PSP-3000, packs a new set of configurable options in the firmware. Yup, we have it verbatim — over at IGN, via Famitsu.com — they’ve detailed the discovered changes. But first — the visual comparison…

The PSP-3000 has a setting for “Color Space” under the system settings section of the XMB. This can be switched between Wide and Normal. Wide exploits the full color depth of the revised hardware, while Normal returns you back to PSP-2000 level color.

The 3000 firmware has an option for Automatic USB Connection. When this is switched on, the PSP switches to USB mode automatically when a USB device is connected.

Finally, the 3000 firmware offers a noise reduction feature for video out. This is used to cut the noise when outputting the PSP’s video signal to a television.

And while we’re on the subject of firmware changes; Sony Japan announced come fall we’ll be able to download games/demos, amongst other goodies, direct from the PSN store. That means no need for a PC or PS3. This update will be available for all PSP models.

CWCHEAT 0.2.2 REV.D Released - by garethlye
Category: General on Friday October 3, 2008

CWCHEAT 0.2.2 REV.D Released

In the early hours of the misty morning, Weltall once again sent word concerning his latest version of CWCHEAT. Revision D’s primary focus: optimizations. And in addition to the various optimizations, which ultimately reduced the overall binaries by ~ 15KB, 0.2.2 REV.D features improved usability — check the change log below.

Since it’s been awhile; the CWCHEAT synopsis –

Cheat all your favourite PSP and PSX games directly by discovering your own, or using known Action Replay, Game Shark, CAETLA, and Xploder codes. Installation, along with instructions to use memory card and USB support, are detailed in text files included with the RAR archive. Furthermore, CWCHEAT is bundled with RemaPSP allowing you to remap PSP buttons and controls.

Take your time, read the documentation; CWCHEAT is a powerful plugin.

CWCHEAT 0.2.2 REV.D changes:

* [ALL] Now > 4.x firmwares are checked for the sony msfatmod thread suspend bug and the check of the memory stick space is disabled to avoid a freeze situation.
* [ALL] Optimizations in the firmware checking
* [ALL] Added support in the gui for setting a button combination to open the text reader directly
* [ALL] Added the possibility to have cwcheat look after a certain address and show changes happening to it (you can access it from the cheat search menu)
* [ALL] Updated the pointer searcher to allow use from the command line. These are the arguments it takes in order to use it this way:
-cli <dump1> <dump2> <address dump1> <address dump2>
* [ALL] updated the toolchain to the latest version
* [ALL] Various optimizations which allowed to reduce the size of the binary

Rumour: PSP Firmware 5.0 (Beta) Available for Developers - by garethlye
Category: General on Friday October 3, 2008

Rumour: PSP Firmware 5.0 (Beta) Available for Developers

According to the fine folks over at pspgen, Sony has issued firmware version 5.0 beta to legitimate PSP developers. This will of course allow commercial developers to adapt and ready their games for the next major firmware revision. Per the moment, the details are somewhat scarce…

For starters, pspgen reports firmware 5.0 will include these three updates:

1. Direct access to the PlayStation Store
2. A new RSS reader
3. An integrated “snapshot” tool; similar to FuSa screenShoot (?)

And that’s all we know for now… With respect to a release date, that also remains unknown. It’s speculated to hit around October with the release of the PSP-3000. Whatever the case, I certainly hope 5.0 sports a little more bang than those 3 specifics.
